Movie recommendation - Pan's Labyrinth

I believe it is fare to say that this may be my all time favourite movie!!

In 1944 fascist Spain, a girl, fascinated with fairy-tales, is sent along with her pregnant mother to live with her new stepfather, a ruthless captain of the Spanish army. During the night, she meets a fairy who takes her to an old faun in the center of the labyrinth. He tells her she's a princess, but must prove her royalty by surviving three gruesome tasks. If she fails, she will never prove herself to be the the true princess and will never see her real father, the king, again.

Pan's labyrinth is absolutely unique and incrediby well done in so many ways. It is a visually stunning and emotionally intense history-lesson with great acting performances!!

Watching this movie for the first time was a completely fantastic experience.....but trust me when I say this is veeeery far away from the feel-good segment!! Allthough this is a kind of fairytale - make no mistake, this is a DARK and CRUEL fairytale with quite intense brutality at display and won't go well with the most sensitive ones.

This movie moved me and kept me completely and utterly spellbound through every minute and left a print in my heart that will never go away.
