Photo blog: Falls arrival

There is something so immensely beautiful about fall.....especially in Switzerland. It's as if the whole country becomes magical. It's the harvest season, the season of sweaters and hot chocolates....the season of crisp, clean air and multitudes of color and I love it! LOVE it.

Everything starts to smell different....probably from the dampness in the ground coming from the rain that nature so desperately needed. 

 

Everywhere along the country roads are little unmanned stands where the local, freshly picked, fruits  and vegetables are yours for just a few Swiss francs and there is something incredibly charming about the fact that this system works. You take what you want and drop some coins in a box. This is the wine season and all the little local vineyards start opening their doors during the weekends for tastings.

Owed to Fall and Winter season

It is not so easy for everyone to reconcile with the fact that fall is here, with winter hiding just around the corner.

I am Swedish and I believe that this feeling is even more deeply embedded in many peoples minds over there as the darkness of this season has already started to fall upon them..... Now we can hate this season or we can love it, we can also choose to be indifferent to it depending on our individual preferences - but what we can not do is avoid it. 

Personally, I've grown to love it and hence, this post is dedicated to the reasons why ;))

I love this season because...

♥ the colours change from different shades of green to multi-coloured natural art that I never get bored of watching.....

♥ it gives me a reason to use my rainbow coloured umbrella

♥ the air finally gets crisp and fully breathable...so energizing....as if finally I get the oxygen my body has been craving all through summer!

♥ of Hot chocolate!! What else is there to say about it?! BLISS!!

♥ you can snuggle up under a blanket TV while watching your favourite TV series, without a guilty conscience

♥ I can finally use my new Hunter wellies and jump in water puddles without having wet feet!

♥ of foundues and raclettes!!! Mmmmhhhmmmm....

♥ booking trips to warmer destinations become a priority and I love having something like this to look forward to!

♥ of movie marathons and cinema visits (including the popcorn....naturally ;))!

♥ it's finally time to buy those ice skates! I'm hoping to order a pair of custom coloured ones from a US website I came across last year ;))

♥ taking long, hot baths using a new, lush bath bomb with candles all around is a natural hide-away when the cold gets overwhelming

♥ it's pumpkin season with all that it means!! Pumpkin soups, Jack-O-Lanterns and decorations

♥ everything somehow slows down.....especially the free time agenda.

♥ going to the gym is much more motivating when it's cold outside!

♥ you can watch the stars for a much longer time every day....

♥ of getting to wear cosy, fluffy warm slippers and socks at home!

♥ of all the new, amazing shopping opportunities! The stores are FULL of goodies!

♥ I love the way a foggy breath looks in the morning

♥ the first frost is always sooooo magical, not to mention the first, slow, big-flaked snowfall!

♥ I will have to buy indoor soccer shoes for the first time in y e a r s!!

♥ it makes me dream about Christmas and spending time with loved ones....

♥ of Glögg and Gluehwein!!

♥ of Tea parties (including cupcakes....of course...)!!!

♥ of candles and tea lights everywhere!!!

Just nature....

♥ I have fallen in love with fall this year..... I especially feel it when walking through the Swiss forests, so magical... Beautiful.... Amazing in the way that it makes me wanna believe in fairytales!

Something that I have learned to love about Switzerland is that when a certain vegetable or fruit is in season, that's what you see e v e r y w h e r e !
They throw festivals for it, display it in the stores, and sell it in local village street-markets.

Right now, no one here can have possibly missed that it's pumpkin season ;))

Mint and vintage choices for fall 2009 - Part two: Bags!

Well hello there beautiful people!

I hope you are having a lovely Sunday so far!!

I have to say my day has been wonderful......kind of the perfect fall Sunday... Slept in 'til around 11, had a lovely strawberry pancake & melon-fruit-salad breakfast with my usual half a pot of coffee. The weather was cool and dull (around 17c), so relaxed and surfed a little while for BAGS (and as you can hopefully see, this session was successful ;))....the weather got better so we went for a walk in the beautiful Swiss forest and had a little photo-shoot (a couple of them are on Twitpic, so you can see them to the right)! So much fun!! Incredible golden light........Was quite freezing though - so when we got back I warmed myself with a BIIIIG cup of chili-spiced-hot-chocolate..... YUM!! Started to watch the movie "Gigantic" but was in a little bit too bouncy kind of mood for such a slow film so decided to listen to some cool music and blog instead (currently hearing the sound of Santogold's "Lights out"! Fab! You can find it in my mixpod player). Oh yes....very happy about this day....

Made a selection of bags for this season....some classics, some vintage, from cheap to ridiculously expensive! My favourites out of these are the Mulberry Bayswater bag (such a classic), the "May the force be with you" shopper by the talented Maddie (you can read her blog by clicking the link on the right-hand-side of my blog and check out more of her stuff in her Etsy-shop!) and last but not least; the CUPCAKE bag ♥♥♥ by Judiet Leiber - to die for (buuuut unfortunately in the ridiculously expensive range)!!!!! I hope you enjoy....

...remember that "flawless" is for things - not for people ;))

My list of "must haves" this fall

Wether we like it or not, fall is not too far away.....which means bye bye to halterneck tops, summer dresses and sandals! (well at least until some lucky few of us go on fall/winter holidays to warmer latitudes).

I'm not saying I won't enjoy the rest of the summer or that I consider it to be over! For sure I will try to get as much out of it as I possibly can - but it doesn't hurt to start planning your new autumn wardrobe pieces ;) Especially if you are like me and really really enjoy it!

I'm not the kind of girl who follows trends like a slave, allthough some of them do bring inspiration... I know for sure one big trend that I won't follow this fall which is the so called "cut-out" trend which basically is clothes with rips in them.... Almost as funny as the "wolf-shirt" trend in the end of 2008. Seriously??! (apologies if I now offend someone...certainly not my intention! Taste is just diffrent from person to person).

Well....there are things for everyone out there and for this, I am very happy!

So here is a part of my wishlist (without relative order) for this fall, basically based on nothing but my own taste which I think it's really all about... YOUR OWN TASTE - but with some trend inspiration when and where you see fit:

1. True religon "Billy" straight leg

True Religon is by far my favourite jeans brand! Always perfect fit!!
These straight-leg jeans feature 5-pocket styling and a single-button closure. Flower-embossed studs at pockets and horseshoe stitching at button-flap coin and back pockets. Whiskering at front. Moderate distressing.

2. Yumi Mini Heart Wool Jacket Black

This brand have so many cool and diffrent tops aswell, but as I recently got myself one, I think I will just settle for

this very cute little wool jacket.

3. Fornarina Contrast Stripey Top

A linen mix woven top by Fornarina with rainbow vertical stripe pattern in a "batwing" style with long sleeves

4. Pintuck Tie Waist Tunic Shirt

This lightweight tunic (to the right) comes from ArdenB and is perfect to wear to work! It features a button front with pintuck detail and self tie waist sash. Rolled sleeves with tabover button detail and a nylon sheen throughout. Unlined.

5. Lace Front Blouse from Topshop

I just adore this, salmon coloured, lace float sleeved blouse from Topshop with bow detail!!

6. Embroidered Blouse, also from Topshop

Another favourite from Topshop is the below frill-sleeved blouse with "pinkish" front embroidery detail and cute buttons in the back.

7. William Sharp Cashmere Crystal Cherry Beanie

LOVE LOVE LOVE this hat from William Sharp! It's very pricy for what it is (a beanie HAT!) but I'm such a sucker for cherries and if it comes in cashmere, well then I think I'm in heaven!

.....and guess what?? There are mathing gloves too!!! GAAAAHHH!

8. Bunny Baby Crew Tee from Wildfox couture

Super cute and super soft bunny jersey of smooth 100% cotton.

9. Fred Flare sunset tie blouse

This gorgeous orange blouse is a great new look for the office + it has something that I never get tired of; A neck bow-tie ;)

10. Modern Vintage ancle boots

For some reason I always struggle to find shoes for fall and winter that I really like... This time was no exception!

Finally I found these veeeeery nice shoes from Modern Vintage that I think can be worth it's price...

11. Printed Newport ruffle dress from Fred Flare

Great retro dress with wonderful ruffle details and back zip closure. So cute!!

12. Rachel Leigh Audrey Enamel Vintage Bow Bracelet in Magenta

Normally, fall clothing tend to be a little dull in terms of colouring, so my number 12 is to spice it up a little!

This pretty bracelet to the right comes from Rachel Leigh, who is one of my favourite designers.
