Photo blog: Our Italian wedding weekend

A weekend in Italy.....maybe the last "adventure" together as just a couple, before becoming parents. So amazing and so exhausting all at once. Exhausting, but oh so worth it!
We left on Friday evening and came home on Sunday evening and I've been spending my time ever since recovering. I knew this would be a challenge for me right now, physically speaking, but I wanted so desperately to see my friends getting married and to feel "normal" (meaning: not just like a pregnant blue whale), if only for a couple of days.

The wedding was stunningly beautiful and the bride and groom were absolutely radiant and sooo full of happiness! This was our first Italian wedding and we both agree, it's very different from both the Swiss and Swedish style weddings..... In a way, less organized and formal, but in a very relaxed yet very elegant manor and with a major focus on FOOD (amazing food I might add!). We didn't understand many words during the ceremony, so we just went with it......with the flow I mean....and during dinner, we were kindly placed at an English speaking table. All though we parked the car just outside so I could go and lay down in between, I didn't last as long as I would have wanted to.....I think we had to say our thank you and goodbye's at around 22:30, but at least my back didn't break down until we were back at our little Bed and Breakfast ;))

Some photos to share a bit of the atmosphere with you.... I was incredibly trigger happy with my camera this day as there was so much beauty around and happy moments to capture, am however just sharing a few since I only had the opportunity to ask the bride and groom for permission to post pictures of them. Am not comfortable with posting photos without asking the people in them if they are ok with it. At least not ones in where you clearly see their faces.
Me before the ceremony starts.... Pregnant at end of week 35.
Fail: Yes, I know I talked about curls, but my pregnancy brain forgot that the curling iron has a Swiss plug and I didn't have a converter with me ;)

At the home of the bride's parents before the wedding started. So gorgeous!
On the way to a photo session with the official photographer......and we tagged a long to take some unofficial ones =p

The buffet of starters was AMAZING!!! Let me add to this picture that there were lots of other things, but this is my veggie plate ;))
The cake, which was accompanied by an abundance of desserts.
I don't think anyone felt hungry or disappoited after this incredible dinner ;)) We are still talking about it!
On the way home, we had a stop in the charming village of Aosta to, take a brake from the car ride, seep in some Italian mountain atmosphere and to buy some wines and cheeses. A very good decision!

Gelato - A given when it Italy ;))

We loved this little shop called "La Bottegattccia" and made all our food shopping in there...

3 bottles of wine, 1 bottle of olive oil, 2 goat cheeses, 1 salami and some pasta is what we came home with....

Wedding outfit...for a Barbamama?

Heels....absolutely out of the question for me in middle of pregnancy week 35 and on Saturday, we are attending a wedding in Milan. Lucky for me, they have a little boutique here in Rolle, called "A ma fille" that sell amazing shoes from Melissa Campana. A brand I know from my friend Aryan whose comfy, but glam looking shoes, attracted my attention since quite a while ;)) The slogan for the ones I picked: "For those who love bows and lace,  but don’t want to sacrifice comfort". Says it all, no? ....and I tell you this slogan ain't no lie! So pretty and like walking around barefoot or in a pair of MUCH less glam looking, old, comfy slippers.... Not entirely sure what they're made of, but a kind of rubbery/jelly kind of material.
Cute, no?

I'll be wearing these with my favorite Betsey Johnson dress (...and yes, Chris has a matching tie ;)). Am so happy I can still fit in it with this huge Barbamama-belly of mine.....but as you can see, I have to practice on my posture a bit as it looks like I'm about to fall backwards ;)))

Now I just need to decide on accessories and hairstyle (I'm thinking curls-something!) and I'm good to go! It will be an absolutely exhausting weekend, I'm sure, especially the traveling there and back (as flying is no longer an option), but this will be my first Italian wedding and I'm soooo excited that we are able to be there when my friend is getting married.... Considering my hormone levels at the moment, I forecast the need to wear waterproof mascara!

A long weekend, a wedding and high hopes for better weather...

Toooodleeedoooo!

Weekend, a long one, just around the corner (well, actually for me it already begun this morning)!

The plans: Relaxation, picnics, a wedding, shopping and hopefully a few good movies...
The weather: Still really bad here, but I'm feeling hopeful! The weather forecast says 21 degrees and sunny tomorrow with 90% certainty ;)
The mood: Quite awesome actually!

I decided to take the day off today....... Why? Just because!! Sometimes I have the feeling that there is never ever enough time to do what I really want to do, which is simply relax. So today, I slept in until almost 10, had a late and long breakfast while watching Greys Anatomy and just plan to spend the rest of the day taking care of myself. Blogging, shopping, some kind of massage or facial-treatment, gym and/or a long walk is on my to-do list today, but nothing is forced....no musts!

The weather has been ridiculously bad here in Switzerland lately but I have high hopes for the weekend!! Seriously! I have been freezing like a shaved polar-bear!! BUT now I'm hearing 24 degrees towards Sunday/Monday and all I can say is WELCOME MARVELLOUS RAYS OF SUNSHINE!!!
For the Swedes reading this, I know you are better off!! Yes, I have been reading your blogs, Tweets and Facebook updates with words like "incredible heat", "sunshine", "tanning", "BBQ" and even "sweat" (yes!) etc etc and have felt such an envious kind of joy.....if you know what I mean ;) Well.....good things come to those who wait with patience I hear and I am very well trained in being patient........and I do agree to 99% with John Ruskin:

“Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.”

So on to the wedding..... Yes, my boyfriends friends (gotta love these way of describing relations....is there really no easier way than "my friends dads friends cousin" etc? I'm asking for help here ;)) wedding party is tomorrow! Shirts have to be ironed, dresses need to be matched with shoes, bags and ties, inventory levels of rightly-coloured-make-up needs checking, nails need to be groomed and painted, hair-styling thoughts need to take form and and and etc etc etc..........if you are a girl, you are very likely to know EXACTLY what I'm talking about. If you are a guy, you are more likely to shake your head and think things like "Oh for F's sake!" or "I'm so happy I'm a man" or maybe even "Eeek!" and all I can say is "I hear ya!".
...but what can I say?? I'm actually comfortable in the girlie-girl-stereo-type.....not because I have to, but because I want to.......... Don't knock it till you try it!

Anyway, that's round-about what's happening over here at the moment!!
Hope you have amazing plans for the weekend or if you don't, that you make the most of that potential opportunity for resting and regain some energy.

Linda - Lost in a pile of thoughts related to shoes, bags and dresses and getting VERY close to the final choice ;)

Ps. I'm also starting to plan some posts as suggested by you in the latest give-away competition, so keep checking....

♥ I now pronounce you husband and wife ♥

"You may kiss the bride!"

These two sentences are so loaded with love and joyYesterday, I got to hear them again....it had been a little more than a year! The beauty of these words get to me everytime...

I weddings!

Especially when you are so certain that the two love-birds joining their hands in marriage are so obviously destined to be together, just like yesterday

The past few days, the weather here has been dreadful...rainy, windy (even stormy!) and cold! ...but just like magic, all the threatening, dark clouds went back to sleep and left us with a beautiful, clear-blue-skied-crisp-sunny-late-summer-day.....and instead of the fall - love was in the air!

Congratulations M & S
Just like John Lennon stated, short and sweet; "All you need is love" and you certainly have that ;))

...and thank you so much for letting us be there with you on your special day, building a memory to last us a lifetime!

"It's a new dawn, It's a new day, It's a new life for me. And I'm feeling good...."
